The Commission System
supports the Grace Church's Mission and offers a considerable opportunity
for personal contributions by parishioners. The principle areas
of parish activity are assigned to separate Commissions. Commissions
are composed of committees, which are formed and led by parishioners
according to their interest and talents. The purpose of the committees
is to carry out the responsibilities of meeting the Commissions'
goals.
Each Commission is normally
chaired by a Vestry member and is composed of either committee chairpersons
or a designated representative. All Vestry members are members of
at least one Commission, though Commissions can include other interested
persons.
Through this system,
it is the Vestry's intention to involve as many people as possible
in the planning and work of the church at every level, to make a
conscious effort to avoid overworking particular individuals, and
to rotate the leadership positions among parish members. To further
these intentions it shall be the policy, whenever feasible, to rotate
Commission and committee chairpersons on a two-year basis.
